Ransomville Speedway

Ransomville Speedway Profile: Clayton Cain

This novice sportsman driver is definitely showing heavy potential as he gains the necessary seat time. Clayton Cain, from Newfane, NY is ready to get back to the Big R and compete in the Novice Sportsman class! That red and black #5 didn’t show up out of nowhere, Cain picked it out of a hat and stuck with it and red happens to be his favorite color! Cain has always been in the racing scene as his father raced since he was born, but he made his own debut for the 2019 season. Watching him weekly, you could see his growth as the season progressed, showing better finishes each week. As a novice driver, he said it was challenging “to get over the fear of wrecking”, but when he did, he took off. Clayton was quick to bring his potential to the spotlight when he won his first race on August 2nd and he doesn't plan to stop there! With hopes to “run as many races as possible and get more seat time” and the possibility of moving up from the novice class, I see nothing but growth from this young driver. He says that Ransomville brings “the toughest cars and toughest guys anywhere in the North-East” but that won’t stop him from advancing his skill and bringing his competition to the Big R. With Miller Lite fueling the race team’s motivation, they will be sure to have another building block of a season, helping Cain grow into the talented driver he shows the potential for. Clayton says, “I want to thank all my crew, my dad, my uncle and Greg Martin”. Cain would also like to thank Fred Pizza and Hoagies, Jeffery Machine, Fab Shop 54, Hot Wheels Traction Factory, Glen’s Towing, MBM Promotions, M and D Racing, Smokin Eagle BBQ, and JJC Custom Graphics for their generous support this season.

Q&A with Clayton Cain:

What is something you do as a race day tradition?

“Eat pizza before each time but I'm not a superstitious person.”

What ice cream flavor would you be and why?

“I would be Perry’s Bittersweet Symphony, I just like coffee and it's energizing.”

If you got the chance to compete with one NASCAR driver, who would it be and why?

“Kyle Larson, just because he can wheel anything.”

Who was your favorite driver growing up?

“Tony Stewart because he wasn't afraid to say what's on his mind.”
