RANSOMVILLE SET TO OPEN 2019 SEASON THIS FRIDAY

RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. (April 28, 2019) - Ransomville Speedway will lift the lid on its 62nd season of racing this Friday night as VP Small Engine Fuels presents Opening Night at the “Big R”.

All five weekly divisions will be on hand to launch the 2019 season, including the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Investors Service Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Gippster’s Collision Mini Stocks and Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman.

The Street Stocks first race of the year will have extra importance as it will be the opening round of the brand new Can-Am Thunder Stock Challenge. This four race series pits Ransomville’s Street Stocks against the Thunder Stocks that race at New Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario.

Friday's series-opening race will be a 30-lap special for the Street Stocks.

Leading the Ransomville contingent of Street Stocks is former track champion Cory Sawyer. Sawyer visited victory lane on multiple occasions last season as he battled Pete Stefanski for the division crown. He’ll be joined by “Showtime” Jaren Isreal, Jordan Moden, Chris Dziomba, Anthony Guthrie, Pat Dell, Pat O’Keefe and Chuck Cala.

Headlining the cast of Humberstone Thunder Stock competitors expected to cross the border is five-time and defending track champion Jason “The Fonz” Fontaine. Fontaine is no stranger to the “Big R”, and will certainly be in the hunt this Friday. Additional Humberstone frontrunners that could contend in the Can-Am Thunder Stock Challenge are former two-time track champ Dave Bailey, Rob Murray and Kyle Pelrine.

One driver that may have hard time picking a side in the Can-Am Thunder Stock Challenge is Bryce Richardson. The Port Colborne, Ontario driver is a regular competitor at both Ransomville and Humberstone. He finished 8th in Ransomville’s Street Stock points last season and 11th at Humberstone.

Following opening night at Ransomville, the Can-Am Thunder Stock Challenge heads to Humberstone on May 26 for round two. The John Susice Memorial at Ransomville on July 26 will serve as round three of the series. The final race of the series takes place September 8 at Humberstone.

The Modifieds and Sportsman will also have something extra on the line for opening night. The driver in each division that lays down the fastest lap in the feature will win a drum of VP Racing Fuel. The bonus was added to make up for time trials being rained out last week.
