From Cap & Gown to Victory Lane, Jacob Bansmer Claims First Career Sportsman Win

LINDBERG, SHERWOOD, HORNQUIST, & TEETER SCORE WINS

RANSOMVILLE, NY (June 27, 2025) On the night that his East Aurora High School classmates were having their graduation ceremony, Jacob Bansmer was racing at the Ransomville Speedway on JW Swanson Night. Bansmer would win the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman feature, his first of his career. Gary Lindberg from Ridgeway, Ontario won his second Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature of the season. Brandon Sherwood from Sanborn, NY won the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stock feature. Matt Hornquist from Eden, NY won the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks feature. Kyle Teeter from Lockport, NY won the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature.

Jesse Cotriss and John Smith brought the Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature to the green flag, with Cotriss out in the lead ahead of Smith, Steve Lewis Jr, Andrew Smith, and Chad Brachmann. Gary Lindberg would enter the top five as did Chad Brachmann as they all got around John Smith early on. Andrew Smith would pass Lewis on lap six to take over second place, as Brachmann and Gary Lindberg were able to pass Lewis to move up positions. Smith and Brachmann battled for several laps for second, as Lindberg, Mat Williamson, and Ryan Susice raced in the top six. Brachmann was able to reel in Cotriss, as did Gary Lindberg setting up a three-car battle for the lead at the race’s midway point. Lindberg was able to pass both Brachmann and Cotriss exiting turn four to take over the lead on lap 19. The caution would come out on lap 24 as Matt Steffenhagen spun in turn three. On the restart, Ryan Susice would enter the top four and would battle with Brachmann, as Mat Williamson would take over second. Lindberg would drive away to score his second Ransomville win of the year, and 11th of his career, tying him with Rick Richner, Ed Ortiz, and Joe Plazek on the track’s all-time wins list.

Tyler Moore and Brett Martin were on the front row for the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman feature event, with Martin in the lead, as Steve Miller challenged Moore for second, with Jake Bansmer and Tyler Foster battled for third place. Bansmer would take over second place and would reel in race leader Martin. Derek Wagner and Brett Senek worked their way into the top five on lap five, with Cameron Tuttle racing in sixth place. Bansmer would take over the lead on lap 11, as Derek Wagner and Brett Senek took over second and third respectively. Cam Tuttle would pass Martin to take over fourth on lap 14. Tuttle would take over third from Senek with 10 laps remaining, as Bansmer continued to lead Wagner. Senek would reclaim third just a lap later and then would go after Wagner for second. Bansmer would go on to score his first career Ransomville win. Bansmer’s win was memorable as it was on the night of his high school graduation, and he choose to come racing instead of being part of his school’s commencement ceremonies.

Mike Kelly and Brandon Sherwood brought the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks to the green flag for their 20-lap feature event, with Sherwood in the lead. Josh Pangrazio, racing the Stolzenberg racing #1s after having issues in his usual number 7 ride in qualifying, spun in turn one to bring out the caution on lap three. Sherwood would take off with the lead on the restart, with Alex Morris racing in second place. While battling for third place, Mike Kelly spun in turn one to bring out the caution on lap six. On the restart, Anthony Muscato was battling Morris for second and hit the front stretch wall and flipped. Muscato climbed out of his car under his own power. The restart would see Sherwood take off in the lead ahead of Morris and Mike Welch. Sherwood would go on to score the win, his 22nd of his career at Ransomville.

Ryan Hessler and Ben Hornquist shared the front row for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks feature event, with Hornquist in the lead ahead of Hessler, Brandon Close, Matt Hornquist, and Jeffrey Wynes racing in the top five. Close would take second away from Hessler and would go after Hornquist for the lead. Close would look underneath Hornquist for the lead on lap five, but Matt Hornquist was able to get around Close to take over second place. Matt Hornquist will pass his dad to take over the lead on lap nine. Hornquist would go on to score the feature win, his first of the season.

Madyson Rouse and Lucas Newton were on the front row for the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature event, with Newton in the lead ahead of Rouse, Christian Soliday, Brendan Zimmerman, and Kyle Teeter. Madyson Rouse would retake the lead on lap two. Newton would retake the lead on lap three ahead of Brendan Zimmerman and Rouse. Kyle Teeter would take over second as Zimmerman and Rouse battled for third place. Coming to the white flag, Newton, Teeter, and Rouse would battle for the lead, with Newton getting loose off turn four, Teeter would capitalize to get underneath and would beat Newton to score the win.

Next Friday night will be our 4th of July extravaganza featuring Fireworks and the inaugural visit from the CRSA Sprints as part of their Independence Day Triple Play. The Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman, Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman, and the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks will all be in action.
