Williamson Rolls Over Super DIRTcar Series Field at Ransomville; Cody McPherson Claims DIRTcar Sportsman Series Race
RANSOMVILLE, NY (August 12, 2025) On a night when St. Catharines, Ontario’s Mat Williamson began the night on his roof in hot laps, he would then dominate the 40th Ron Martin Summer Nationals for the Super DIRTcar Series on Tuesday night at the Ransomville Speedway as National Maintenance Contracting Corporation, Stirling Lubricants, and Wendt’s Oil and Propane presented the racing action. In the DIRTcar Sportsman Series event, Cody McPherson from St. Catharines, Ontario claimed the 30-lap feature to win his fourth series race in the last six races at Ransomville.
Based off the redraw, Mat Williamson and Gary Lindberg brought the Super DIRTcar Series to the green flag for their 75-lap event, with Williamson in the lead ahead of Lindberg and Peter Britten. The leaders would hit lap traffic on lap 12, allowing Lindberg to close in on Williamson. Felix Roy would reel in fourth place running Alex Payne while working lap traffic on lap 20. Alex Yankowski slowed in turn four on lap 23 to bring out the race’s first caution. Alex Payne would pull off the track just one lap prior to the caution. The restart on lap 26 would see Matt Sheppard move into fourth place and then on lap 27, would pass Britten to take over third place. Williamson, Lindberg, and Sheppard would pull away from the field. As Williamson entered lap traffic, it allowed Lindberg to close in, but every time Lindberg would close in, Wiliamson would open his lead. Williamson would dominate the event, winning his third Summer Nationals in four years. It also was Williamson’s 38th career Ransomville victory. Up next for the Super DIRTcar Series will be Summerfast, four races in four days August 17-20 at Weedsport, Brewerton, Land of Legends, and Fulton Speedway.
Niagara Lock & Key sponsored Zac’s Dash for Cash for the Super DIRTcar Series, honoring and remembering longtime track official Rick Zachary who passed away in November of 2024. Gary Lindberg would win the four-lap dash ahead of Felix Roy, Matt Sheppard, and Darren Smith.
Tyler Puchalski and Tristan Ladouceur were on the front row for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series event, with Pulchalski in the lead ahead of Ladouceur and fourth place starting Cody McPherson, who was driving the Bubby Pawlak owned number 1 that McPherson would sit in for the first time when he arrived to the track Tuesday afternoon. McPherson would quickly get towards the front and by lap eight, would take over the lead. Lap traffic would allow Ladouceur to close in, as did Emmitt Waldron and Gavin Eisele, who won at Glen Ridge to open the Championship Series. As the race past its midway point, Tyler Corcoran would work his way up through the field as he was battling with Ransomville regular Cameron Tuttle for several laps, then battling with both Waldron and Eisele for positions inside the top five. Third generation driver Curtis Friesen spun in turn two on lap 28 to bring out the races’ lone caution. The late-race restart would see McPherson in the lead, holding off Ladouceur, with Eisele and Corcoran in the top four. Shane Pecore would make his presence felt late in the race, getting a top five spot when the checkered flag waved. In the end, McPherson would pick up his fourth series win at Ransomville in the last six DIRTcar Sportsman Series events held at the facility, and notched his 20th career Ransomville checkered flag.
Next race for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series Championship Season takes place on Wednesday, August 20 at the Fulton Speedway as part of the final night of Summerfast.
The Friday night racing program will return on Friday, August 15 as Niagara Metals presents the return of the fan favorite Enduro race! We will also be honoring and remembering Mackenzie Kulesza, Mateo Hope, and Rusty Merrick with the Mackenzie Kulesza Memorial for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks, plus the life of Mateo Hope with the Mateo Hope Memorial for the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks.
