Cody McPherson Wins 3rd Annual Chris Moore Memorial

RANSOMVILLE, NY (July 26, 2024) Cody McPherson from St. Catharines, Ontario was victorious in the 3rd annual Chris Moore Memorial for the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman on Friday night, presented by Parkhill Tree Service, Faery’s Nursery, Niagara Hardwood, and WNY Heroes. It was McPherson’s fifth Ransomville win of 2024. “Money” Mat Williamson from Ridgeway, Ontario won his fourth points-paying Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature of the season. Mike Welch from Stanley, NY won his second KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks feature of the season. Dustin Gorhan from Ransomville, NY won the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature.

Derek Wagner and Dave DiPietro brought the field of Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag for Chris Moore Memorial, with Wagner showing the way. After a lap four caution slowed the field down, Wagner would continue to show the way ahead of DiPietro, Dave Conant, AJ Custodi, and Cameron Tuttle. Cody McPherson would work through the field as the 12th place starter was inside the top five by the races’ halfway mark. Conant would catch DiPietro for second place on lap 16, with McPherson racing in fourth place. McPherson would pass Conant for third place on lap 19, while catching race leader Derek Wagner. Tyler Moore spun in turn three to bring out the caution on lap 21. McPherson would use the outside lane on the restart to take over the race lead, as Wagner was falling into the clutches of Cam Tuttle and Dave Conant. McPherson would go to score the win, his fifth of the season and 16th of his career.

Phil Vigneri III and Steve Lewis Jr were on the front row for the Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature, with Vigneri showing the way ahead of Lewis, Mat Williamson, Gary Lindberg, and Ryan Susice. Williamson would take over second and would battle with Vigneri for several laps for the lead. Williamson would take the top spot away on lap five, with Lindberg, Susice, and Lewis racing in the top five. Lindberg would take over second place on lap 12 from Vigneri, as Williamson encountered lap traffic. Ryan Susice would battle with Vigneri at the halfway mark for third place. Susice would waste no time to catch and battle with Lindberg for second place. The caution would come out on lap 22 as Steve Lewis Jr hit the turn three wall while battling for position with Noah Walker. The restart would see Williamson and Lindberg on the front row, with Williamson in the lead. Williamson would drive away to his fifth win of the year, and 30th career Ransomville triumph.

Mike Kelly and Butch Zimmerman were on the front row for KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks main event, with Butch Zimmerman in the lead. Brandon Sherwood would take second away from Mike Kelly and would go after Zimmerman for the lead. Sherwood would take the lead on lap two, with Mike Welch moving into the runner-up position. Welch would take the lead away from Sherwood on lap nine. Joey Zimmerman spun in turn two to bring out the caution on lap 10. Welch would lead the final five laps to pick up his second Ransomville win of the season.

Dustin Gorhan and Guy Steffen brought the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman to the green flag for their 15-lap feature event, with Gorhan showing the way. Tyler Foster would take over second place, with Kyle Teeter racing in third place. Gorhan would continue to head ahead of Foster with Nigel Pendykoski taking over third place. Gorhan would go on to score the feature win.
