Erick Rudolph and Mat Williamson Represent Ransomville Speedway in Florida
RANSOMVILLE, NY (February 19, 2021) Two of the top drivers in Northeast Modified racing call the Ransomville Speedway home. Erick Rudolph and Mat Williamson have raced against each other up and down the east coast and on both sides of the border. Rudolph and Williamson once again kicked off their 2021 campaigns down in the Sunshine State of Florida.
Third-generation driver Erick Rudolph went to Florida before the Super DIRTcar Series took over Volusia Speedway Park for the DIRTcar Nationals. On February 10 at Volusia, Rudolph earned his 500th career top 10 finish in a Modified. “We did good at Volusia but not great,” Rudolph said. In four races at the DIRTcar Nationals, Rudolph and the BBL Racing no. 25 placed second, sixth, seventh, and twelfth. “Bubba’s went about as well as it could have,” Rudolph said. Before Volusia, Rudolph ran with the Short Track Super Series and won the Sunshine Swing Championship. Racing at Bubba Raceway Park, Rudolph noted to Dirt Track Digest, “I didn’t expect to do what we did as I have never been there.”
Turning his attention to his Friday night home at Ransomville, Rudolph said, “I’m looking forward to competing at Ransomville and seeing all of my local fans.” His goal for the 2021 season is to compete at a high level in the 358’s. The two-time and reigning Krown Undercoating Modified track champion is once again behind the wheel of the Revive Spine Center, Stirling Lubricants, Mohawk Northeast, Olson Fabrications, Tim Hortons, National Maintenance Contracting Corporation, BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, Bringham Concrete, Snyder Industries, and Crown Benefits Group number 25.
Mat Williamson is anxious to get back to a more normal racing season in 2021 as he faced obstacles getting to and from the track in 2020. He commented to Dirt Track Digest, “After an unexpected season last year, you don’t really know what’s going to happen. Coming over, I have to go into the customs office and give them my paperwork. They look over everything. They go over my passport and I make sure that we are all doing our part so I can continue to come over here.” Williamson had to get tested before coming to race at Volusia and when he returned to Canada.
“Our Florida trip was okay,” Williamson said. “We had some decent runs with the Buzz Chew no. 88, but didn’t have the speed we wanted after being so good down there in 2020.” Williamson is getting excited about returning to Ransomville in 2021. “I’m super excited about being at Ransomville again on Friday nights. Last year, it just didn’t seem right not having a Friday home.” Williamson’s goal for 2021 is to win a track championship at Ransomville. “Hopefully we can win a few races and get the track title. The guys have worked hard and put together a new car and we are running a spec 358 motor this year instead of the W16.” “I think the new spec motor will bring our program up the level we need to win,” Williamson added.
The St. Catharines, Ontario driver will once again be behind the wheel of the Wendt’s Propane, Mark Cerrone Inc., Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Military Towing, Toast & Roast Café, Integra Shocks, Bicknell Racing Products no.6.
Rudolph and Williamson will be joined by the rest of the Krown Undercoating Modifieds that call Ransomville Speedway home. The 2021 season will begin with the scheduled Test, Tune, and Time set for Friday, April 30 with the 2021 season opener scheduled for the following week, Friday, May 7.
