    Ransomville Speedway Profile: Brett Senek

The Sportsman class always has some of the toughest competitors in the area. This Ransomville native is no exception! Brett Senek, driver of the #111, dominated the Sportsman class in 2019 and won the track championship! In 2020, Senek will be starting his 15th year racing and 6th year in the Sportsman class. This Sportsman super star plans to defend his title as track champion and win many more races! Senek intends to run the BEI Lightening Series and visit many area tracks. He would also like to make an appearance at Super Dirt Week! For drivers just starting their racing career, Senek says “get ready to spend a lot of money”. As a track champion, those moving up to the Sportsman class he says, “it is not easy as it looks, it takes time. I went from wrecking four times a night to winning now two track championships at Ransomville. It takes a lot of time to get used to the handling of the car. The handling is nowhere near Street Stocks or Mini Stocks and it’s a lot more expensive. Overall, it is just a big learning curve”. Senek would like to thank Stirling Lubricants, Champion Racing Oil, Ed’s Garage Collision and Paint, Krown Undercoating of Ransomville, Helena, Pioneer Seeds, Tony's Pizza, Jammer Motorsports, DMS Powder Coating, Senek Farms, Mad Skin’s and Race Car Bodies, DIG Race Products, PDG gfx, and Henry’s Exhaust Systems for their generous support in preparation for the 2020 race season. He would also like to thank his dad, Jeff Wilkinson, and Mark Sylvies for their continuous support throughout his racing career.

    Q&A with Brett Senek:

What has been your favorite memory while racing?:

“All the times spent in the shop working with my team and going out to the races with them. It's always nice to win too.”

How did you get into racing?

“I bought a go kart off of Roy and Ryan Susice. I was 10 and I started in junior 1 and have been racing ever since.”

If you got the chance to compete with one driver, who would it be and why?

“Matt Sheppard because he has always been the one to beat and the fastest one on the track.”

How did you get your race car number?

“I got it from Kevin Wills because he was 111 and I always went to the races to watch him. Austin Susice helped me sticker up my first body with an orange duck tape 111 on one side and I think Austin put ‘speed freak’ on the other side of it.”

Fans are encouraged to watch Brett Senek’s progress during the 2020 season on the Senek Racing Facebook page.
