SUMMER NATIONALS GETS NEW DATE FOR 2020 SEASON

RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. (December 6, 2019) - The annual visit to Ransomville Speedway by the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds gets a new date for the 2020 racing season. The $7,500-to-win, 36th annual Summer Nationals will take place on Tuesday, July 7 as the “Beasts of the Northeast” rumble into the “Big R” a month earlier than the previously used early August race date.

“We had to shuffle our schedule around for 2020 to accommodate some special events,” said Jenn Martin, Ransomville Speedway general manager. “The Super DIRTcar Series and World Racing Group have been great partners in working with us to make it all fit.”

In 2019, the Summer Nationals was rained out for the first time in the event’s 35 year history. The busy late summer schedule for the Super DIRTcar Series made finding a suitable rain date a challenge. “Last season we were so disappointed when we were unable to reschedule the Summer Nationals,” said Martin. “This new earlier date gives us some more options that we really hope we won’t have to use.”

The Summer Nationals will feature a doubleheader of DIRTcar series events as there will also be a $1,000-to-win DIRTcar Sportsman Series Western Region event. The top five finishers in Western Region points in 2020 will share in a $1,500 points fund.

Ransomville Speedway was proud to be the Friday night home track for two drivers that finished in the top five of Super DIRTcar Series points this past season. Mat Williamson of St. Catharines, Ontario became the first Canadian to win the Super DIRTcar Series championship as he racked up three wins, including the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 at Oswego Speedway during Super DIRT Week. 2019 Krown Undercoating 358 Modified track champion, Erick Rudolph, finished fifth in the Super DIRTcar Series standings while racking up four series wins, including an event at the Eldora Speedway in Ohio.

Rudolph and Williamson will defend their home track against the likes of Matt Sheppard, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker, Larry Wight and Peter Brittain.

NASCAR Truck Series driver Stewart Friesen is the most recent winner of the Summer Nationals when he earned his sixth career victory in the event back in 2018. That win tied him with legends Bob McCreadie, Alan Johnson and Danny Johnson for the most wins in the history of the Summer Nationals. Friesen started his racing career driving go-karts and Sportsman at the “Big R” when his family owned the facility.

Track sponsorships, marketing partnerships and VIP suites sales for the upcoming season are underway. Contact Jenn Martin at the speedway office at (716) 791-3602 to lock in your company’s dates for 2020.
