BICKNELL, SUSICE, MORRIS, AND BORKENHAGEN TAKE WINS AT RANSOMVILLE

 

  
Friday, July 25, 2008 – Ransomville, NY – A total of eighty-one cars registered for competition last Friday night at the big R. It was a beautiful night for racing as clear skies and comfortable temperatures greeted race fans for the thirteenth consecutive night of racing in 2008.
Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ontario took top honors last Friday night for the third time in 2008 at Ransomville Speedway.  Bicknell piloted his Lucas Oil sponsored machine to the front on lap ten of the thirty lap Mighty Taco Modified main and maintained the top spot through the final stages. Bicknell held a ten car length advantage at the checkered over Scott Kerwin.

 

Ryan Susice of Ransomville, NY captured his first career Original Pizza Logs Sportsman feature win last Friday night. Susice grabbed the lead at the drop of the green and was never seriously challenged after that point. The defending Streetstock champion has been a strong rookie contender in 2008 and had it all come together last week. Susice became the tenth different winner in the highly competitive sportsman division. Jesse Cotriss, James Friesen, Jipp Ortiz, and John Smith rounded out the top five.

 

            Alex Morris of Niagara Falls, NY became the first driver at Ransomville Speedway to collect four feature wins in 2008. Morris took the lead away from Pat Dell on a lap four restart and held off persistent challenges from Dave Conant in the closing laps. Conant came home in second followed by Roger Israel, Dell, and Jaren Israel.

            Derrick Borkenhagan won the 2nd Street Stock Feature over Chris Burek, and Gerald Poole.  This was Derrick's 2nd win of the year.

Justin Israel picked up the Street Stock mechanics race.

 

            Pitnotes-Welcome back Mark Golding who made his first start of the 2008 season in the Mighty Taco Modifieds.  Work and family commitments had side-lined Mark for the first half of the season. Happy belated birthdays to Russell Friesen, Stewart Friesen, and Gerald Poole.
