Ransomville, NY
Thursday, July 03, 2008 The stars lined up last Thursday
night at Ransomville Speedway as the whos who of DIRTcar
Modified racing pulled into town for the annual Advance Auto
Parts Super DIRTcar Series event. A total of forty-two
Modifieds entered in addition to twenty-eight sportsman and
twenty streetstocks. Ransomville Speedway also enjoyed the best
crowd of the season.
Billy Decker of
Unadilla, NY took top honors in the Advance Auto Parts Super
DIRTcar Series event. Decker took the lead away from Robbie
Krull on a lap fifteen restart and was never challenged after
that point aboard his Gypsum Express sponsored #91. A home
coming of sorts for the Decker team as crew chief Scott Jeffery
was born and raised in Ransomville, NY. Krull, Alan Johnson,
Stewart Friesen, and Todd Burley rounded out the top five.
Krull led the
beginning stages followed closely by Decker and Hearn. Billy
Dunn retired pitside on lap five after he developed an oil leak
during driver introductions. As he has been so often in his
illustrious career at Ransomville-the show was Danny Johnson as
he gained ten positions in the first ten laps. Johnson
transferred to the main by virtue of a consolation win marring
him deep in the field. Matt Sheppard brought out the first
caution on lap fifteen after a spin in turn one.
Decker used the
outside lane on the restart to take the point position away from
Krull. Stewart Friesen ran third followed by Hearn and Dale
Planck. Lap twenty found Danny Johnson use the moat to his
advantage as he passed two cars down the front stretch. A
classis Johnson battle took place on lap twenty-two between Alan
and Danny as they battled side by side for sixth.
Decker
continued to set a fast pace up front followed by Krull, Hearn,
Alan Johnson, and Danny Johnson. Danny found himself at the back
again after he lost a tire on lap forty-four. Decker diced
through the field lapping all but the top eighteen by lap
sixty-three. Decker set a blistering pace through the final
stages enroute to the win. Krull, Alan Johnson, Friesen, and
Burley rounded out the top five.

Don Spatorico
of Ransomville, NY captured his first win of 2008 aboard the
Original Pizza Logs Sportsman division. Spatorico took the lead
early on and maintained it the remainder of the event. Spatorico
also became the first winner of 08 with an open motor under the
hood. The defending champion currently sits second in points
behind James Michael Friesen. Friesen suffered a dismal finish
after making contact with the outside retaining wall on lap
nineteen. Steve Schumacher enjoyed his best finish of the season
coming home in second. Justin Sharp, Jipp Ortiz, and Jesse
Cotriss rounded out the top five.

Alex Morris of
Niagara Falls, NY took top honors aboard the Ki-Po Chevrolet
Streetstock fifteen lap feature main. Morris took the lead at
the drop of the green and maintained it the entire distance. A
trio of cautions slowed the event in the late going however it
was Morris hanging on up front for his third win of the season.
Sean Letts, Chris Burek, Dave Conant, and Don Rappleyea rounded
out the top five.
