JOE WILLIAMS WINS
SPORTSMAN SERIES EVENT; SUSICE AND GUNIO ALSO
COLLECT WINS AT RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY

(Alex and Helen Bruce Photos)
Ransomville, NY – Friday, September 07, 2007 – Despite persistent
rain showers through-out the evening-Ransomville officials forged
ahead and were able to finish the scheduled racing event. A total of
three rain delays slowed the program while ninety-four cars signed
in pitside including a record forty-six sportsman.

Ryan Susice of Ransomville, NY was victorious aboard the one
hundred lap Dream Construction Streetstock main event. Susice took
the lead away from Chris Burek on lap twenty-five and was never
seriously challenged after that point. The rookie sensation also
picked up the 2007 Johnston’s Restaurant Streetstock title. Susice
came into the event tied with Kirk Tuttle-simply put which ever
finished in front of the other-had the title. Susice did all he
could by taking home the checkered.
Randy Zimmerman led the first six circuits prior to losing the
top spot to Alex Morris. Morris was able to maintain the point
position through lap eighteen when Burek took over the lead. Susice
was on the charge as he made his way by Burek on lap twenty-five
taking over the top spot. Susice quickly put distance between
himself and the remainder of the field. Susice led through the lap
fifty-one break. Susice brought the field back to green and
maintained the lead over Burek, Jaren Israel, Brian Lonneville, and
Tuttle. Susice was able to put some distance between himself and the
remainder of the field. Susice maintained the point position through
a few more caution periods and took the win over Burek, Roger
Israel, Tuttle, and Wayne Close.
Joe Williams of Scotia, NY took top honors aboard the fifty lap
Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. Dirt Sportsman Series main event. Williams
took the lead at the drop of the green and held off persistent
challenges by the 2007 Original Pizza Logs Sportsman champion Don
Spatorico. Spatorico came home in second followed by Chris
Higgins, Tyler MacPherson, and John Juhl. Juhl came from dead last
to finish a fifth.
Williams grabbed the lead at the drop of the green and
maintained it through some early caution periods. Shawn Donath came
into the night second in Dirt points and looked to have a good night
ahead of him as he ran second early on. Unfortunately for Donath-he
had a first hand experience with the infamous Ransomville Speedway
moat as he came to rest in it after making contact with the turn
four guardrail. Donath returned to the speedway only to be caught up
in a lap fifteen maylay. Also collected was third place points
runner Jipp Ortiz. The top two of Williams and Spatorico put on a
great show for the fans as they battled side by side, door handle to
door handle for much of the event. In the end Williams was able to
hold onto the point position. A total of nine caution periods slowed
the fifty lap main.

Erick Gunio took top honors aboard the fifteen lap Bobcat of
Buffalo Firehall Enduro. Gunio enjoyed a half a straight away lead
at the checkers as he collected the first win for the Olcott
Firehall. Mark Brown passed Chris Lederhouse for second on the
final circuit to claim the points title for the Wilson Firehall. The
champion will officially be crowned at the annual awards banquet in
November. Lederhouse finished in the third position.
