Ransomville, NY...Tuesday, July 06, 2004-Billy Decker of Unadilla, NY won his second Advance Auto Parts BB Modified Super DIRT Series event in a row at Ransomville Speedway picking up the win last Tuesday night aboard his Gypsum Express sponsored machine. Decker took the lead away from Chad Brachmann on lap sixty-three and held the top spot the remaining distance in the event sponsored by Mighty Taco and E-Z Oil. Decker used his win and the dismal luck by Gary Tompkins to take over the Series points lead.
Ransomville top gun  Brachmann and DIRT top shoe runner  Decker shared the front row by virtue of the re-draw aboard the one hundred-lap Advance Auto Parts BB Modified Super DIRT Series event. Brachmann took the immediate lead followed by Decker. Decker was able to use the high-lane to take over the lead position on lap two putting Brachmann back to second. Danny Johnson was a man on a mission early as he battled Series points leader Gary Tompkins for third. Contact between the pair resulted in both ending up against the turn three guardrail. Johnson was done for the night while Tompkins was able to continue.
Decker chose the inside lane for the restart putting Brachmann alongside. Brachmann was able to take advantage of the highside and take over the top spot. Decker, AJ Romano, Tim McCreadie, and Pat Ward rounded out the top five. Vic Coffey took over the fifth position on lap twelve. The man on the move was Pete Bicknell who had started twenty-second and was up to eleventh by lap fifteen. Brachmann maintained the top spot on the restart with Decker applying heavy pressure.  The duo was able to pull away from the field in a battle of their own as the field reached the thirty-lap mark. Decker tried high and low with Brachmann holding the defending race winner at bay. Tough break for Ransomville regular Ray Bliss who slowed on the backstretch on lap thirty-six. Brett Hearn had simply no where to go making contact with the back end of the Bliss machine. Another Ransomville regular-Mark Golding-spun in turn one collecting Steve Paine in the process and bringing out the fifth caution.
Brachmann once again chose the outside lane for the restart with Decker alongside. Brachmann was able to maintain control as Coffey took over the third position followed by teammate Tim McCreadie and Ward. The Sweeteners Plus teams battled side by side for third as Decker continued to pressure Brachmann for the top spot. Tim Fuller and Bicknell ran sixth and seventh. McCreadie re-took the third position on lap forty-two. What a race for the lead as the top two of Brachmann and Decker continued to battle side by side for the top spot as sixth caution flew for Gil Tegg who took the long way around using Kinser Way. Mr. Smallblock continued his pursuit to the front as he took over the fifth position on the restart as Brachmann once again set the pace up front.
At the half-way point it was Brachmann followed by Decker, Coffey, McCreadie, Bicknell, Alan Johnson,  Sheppard, Fuller, Ward, Kenny Tremont, and Justin Hears rounding out the top ten.  It was a torrid battle up front as Brachmann and Decker continued to put on a great show for the fans. If that wasn't enough to keep the fans on the edge of their seats, the three way battle for third between Coffey, Bicknell, and McCreadie was. Bicknell moved into third position finding the leaders a full straight away ahead. The top two crossed the line in virtually a dead heat lap after lap with Decker making the pass on lap sixty-three. Decker was able to put some distance between himself and Brachmann. A real tough break for Florida DIRT Series champ Pat Ward who made contact with the turn one guardrail on lap seventy-six.
Decker set the pace on the restart maintaining the lead position over Brachmann and Bicknell.  The Sweeteners teammates continue to run fourth and fifth as Decker pulled away from the remainder of the field. Decker had a full straightaway lead with just ten laps remaining in the one hundred-lap event. Bicknell looked to the inside of Brachmann for the runner up position on lap ninety. Bicknell got a nose under Brachmann on lap ninety-three taking over the second position. At the line it was Decker followed by Bicknell, Brachmann, McCreadie, and Alan Johnson. Pete Bicknell failed to pass weight resulting in a complete loss of points and money.

Kevin Wills of Ransomville, NY topped the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman twenty-five lap main event picking up his fourth win of the season. Wills used a late race pass on Bob Winters aboard his Got Milk/Wills Dairy Farms sponsored machine.
Doug Coons and Dave Kubiniec shared the front row for the start with Coons taking the early lead. Kubiniec, Winters, John Hagerman, and Mark Potter rounded out the top five. Dave Flanagan had a rough Ransomville 2004 debut as he made contact with the turn two guardrail on lap two. Kubiniec took over the top spot on the restart with Winters and Potter in tow. Top points battlers Wills, Jeff McGinnis, and Scott Kerwin were running seventh through nineth on lap six. The trio came into the night separated by just six markers. The second caution was needed on lap seven as Andy Joy spun in turn three.
Winters used the high lane to take over the lead position on the lap seven restart putting Kubiniec back to second. Boyd MacTavish advanced to third as Potter and Wills battled for the fourth position. Burt, NY racer Jon Miller dropped out of competition on lap thirteen with apparent mechanical woes. Winters was able to distance himself from the remainder of the field by lap seventeen as the event ran clean and green. Wills took over the second position putting MacTavish back to third. As the field received the five to go signal, Wills was closing the margin on Winters who was looking for his first ever career Sportsman win. With just two laps remaining, Wills took over the top spot enroute to his fourth win of the season. Winters, MacTavish, Dave Just, and Scott George rounded out the top five.
Pitnotes-Many of DIRT's top Modified stars made their way to Western New York last Tuesday including Watertowns Tim McCreadie who had competed in a DIRT Late Model race the night prior. Tough break for Sportsman competitors Eddie Cain and Scott Just as they made contact with the turns 3 & 4 guardrail during heat action.  Jason Boyle returned to action at the big R as he took over the driving duties in the #66 Sportsman. Welcome to Dave Flanagan who made his first start of the season at Ransomville.
