A STELLAR SUCCESS FOR RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY’S 53RD SEASON OPENER; BURLEY, WRIGHT, BORKENHAGEN, ISRAEL, AND WASHBURN TAKE WINS

Ransomville, NY – Friday, April 30, 2010 – The words record setting and land slide of enthusiasm have been used to describe the early season numbers at the big R.  There simply aren’t words to describe the amazing success of the season opener this past Friday night at the big R.  106 cars signed in pit side to do battle amongst the four scheduled classes while 2500 fans packed the grandstands!  2010 is going to be a great year!
     Todd Burley of Spencerport, NY backed up his quick time the week prior to take the feature win aboard the thirty lap Mighty Taco Modified main event. Burley held off early race challenges by Chad Brachmann for the win enroute to defending his 2009 track title. Brachmann finished in second followed by Rich Vinson.

 

 

     Justin Wright of Piffard, NY – Justin Wright of Piffard, NY took top honors aboard the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman feature main. Wright took the lead at the drop of the green from his outside front row starting position and was never seriously challenged. Wright took the win over Jipp Ortiz and Ryan Susice.

 

     Derrick Borkenhagen took the win aboard the first fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main. Borkenhagen took the lead at the drop of the green and held off persistent challenges by Gerald Poole in the early going. Borkenhagen took the win over Don Rappleyea and Ricky Washburn.

 

     Jaren Israel of Wilson, NY took top honors aboard the second fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main event, Israel took the lead at the drop of the green and held it the entire distance. Israel took the win over Mike Greenawalt and Roger Israel.

 

     Eugene Washburn was awarded the win aboard the twelve lap Gippsters Collision 4 Banger division after Steve Matson failed to pass tech. Matson led the first three circuits before giving up the ghost to Derek Wagner. Wagner led through lap nine prior to giving up the top spot back to Matson.  Matson led the remaining three circuits to the checkered. Eugene Washburn, Wagner, Gary Watier, and Mike Pahl rounded out the top five.
