Street Stock
King of the
Hill 100
took center
stage last
Saturday
night as
Ransomville
Speedway
completed
its second
to last
event of the
2009 season.
Despite
chilly
temperatures
– fans
enjoyed a
twenty-seven
car field
take the
green in the
Investors
Services /
Ki-Po
Chevrolet
main event.
Roger
Israel
of
Wilson,
NY took
top
honors
aboard
the one
hundred
lap
Investors
Services
King of
the
Hill.
Israel
was in
the
right
place at
the
right
time as
he
inherited
the lead
on lap
sixty-four
after
current
leader
Ricky
Washburn
suffered
a flat
tire.
Once in
command
Israel
never
looked
back
aboard
his #37
entry
and went
on to
win his
first
ever
King of
the Hill
main
event.
Washburn
of
Ransomville,
NY led
the
early
going
and
through
several
caution
periods
that
plagued
the
first
half of
the main
event.
Washburn
withstood
consistent
challenges
by
Israel
and Don
Rappleyea
through
lap
sixty-three
prior to
disaster
stricking
on lap
sixty-four
when he
suffered
a flat
tire.
Roger
inherited
the top
spot
followed
by
Rappleyea,
Jaren
Israel,
Charles
Harvey,
and
Ricky
Gorhan.
For
Harvey
it
solidified
an
amazing
season
which
found
the
youngster
improve
immensely
over his
2008
effort.
Roger
continued
to lead
the
field
through
the
final
stages
of the
main
with
some
twenty
drivers
still in
competition.
At the
checkered
it was
Roger
Israel
taking
the win
over
Rappleyea,
Jaren
Israel,
Harvey,
and
Ricky
Gorhan,
Gorhan
came
from the
twenty-seventh
starting
position
to fifth
– some
twenty-two
positions.
Derek
Smith of
Ransomville,
NY
captured
the
checkered
aboard
the
fifteen
lap
Original
Pizza
Logs
Sportsman
main
event.
Smith
took the
lead
early on
and was
never
seriously
challenged
after
that
point.
The
event
was
designated
for
those
who had
not
visited
victory
lane in
2009.
Using a
heads-up
format
from the
heat
event
finish –
Smith’s
controversial
move in
the
eight
lap
qualifying
distance
aided
Smith to
a second
place
finish
in the
heat –
and a
first
row
starting
position
for the
feature.
Nate
Reynolds,
Scott
Just,
Mike
Williams,
and
Allan
Wills
rounded
out the
top
five.
Jonathon
Stoelting
of
Berkholtz,
NY took
top
honors
aboard
the
twelve
lap
Bobcat
of
Buffalo
Firehall
Enduro
Series.
Representing
the
Berkholtz
Firehall
-
Stoeling
took the
lead at
the drop
of the
green
and
maintained
it
through
the
entire
distance
enroute
to his
first
win at
the big
R. Mark
Brown,
Hoyt
Desso,
Justin
Stoeling,
and
James
Pringle
rounded
out the
top
five.
Bill
Button
took the
win
aboard
the
twenty-five
lap 4/6
Cylinder
enduro
main.
Button
took the
lead
away
from
Rick
Hess on
lap
twenty-one
and held
it
through
the
final
events.
Bill

and Gary
Waiter
rounded
out the
top
three.
