BURLEY, WRIGHT,
WASHBURN, SMITH, AND O'DONNELL TAKE WINS AT
RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY
Friday, July 24,
2009 – Ransomville, NY – Despite rain all
around, Ransomville Speedway was able to beat
the odds and complete the 12th show
of the season. A total of ninety- one cars
signed in pitside including 26 Mighty Taco
Modifieds as a few outsiders came in to test for
the upcoming 25th Alex Friesen Summer
Nationals.
Todd Burley of
Spencerport, NY extended his points leader last
Friday night after a win in the thirty lap
Mighty Taco Modified feature main. Burley took
the lead away from Travis Braun on lap twelve
and quickly distanced himself from the remainder
of the field. Not only did the win aid Burley in
his quest for another championship but Pete
Bicknell’s dismal night also played into
Burley’s hand. Burley became a new uncle the
previous Sunday as Cheryl Burley Niskes welcomed
her daughter Brooke Lee to the racing family.
Travis Braun, Chad Brachmann, Stewart Friesen,
and Dave Just rounded out the top five.
Justin
Wright took top honors last Friday night aboard
the twenty-five lap Original Pizza Logs
Sportsman main. Wright took the lead away from
Nate Reynolds on lap thirteen and was never
seriously challenged after that point. Wright
took the win over Ryan Susice, Don Spatorico,
Tony Purgarich, and Jesse Cotriss.
Kenny Washburn
of Ransomville, NY, took top honors last Friday
night aboard the fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet
Streetstock main. Washburn led all fifteen laps
holding off Jaren Israel at the line. Stuart
Kumm, Ricky Washburn, and Brian Lonneville
rounded out the top five.
Andrew Smith
became the fifteenth different winner of the
season aboard the Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock
division. Smith led the entire fifteen circuits
in just his fifth outing. Following Smith across
the finish line was Charles Harvey, Chris Burek,
Gerald Poole, and Billy Coleman.
Jamie O’Donnell
took the lead away from Ryan Stephenson on lap
nine of the twelve aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo
Firehall Enduro Series. O’Donnell continued his
domination of the division with yet another win.
