PATRICK DELL AND
DERRICK BORKENHAGEN WIN ON RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY STIMULUS PACKAGE
NIGHT
Patrick
Dell and Derrick Borkenhagen split 15 lap Kipo Chevrolet
Street Stock feature events last Saturday night at
Ransomville Speedway on Stimulus Package Night. A great
crowd was on hand as 85 cars took to the track for a
four division program. Both Dell and Borkenhagen were
returning winners as Ransomville's Street Stock program
has thirteen different winners on the 2009 season.
Dell had to really work for this one as he beat out
2006 Street Stock champion Roger Israel by a car length
at the finish line. Israel actually got the lead with a
handful of laps remaining but Dell quickly got the front
running position back and held off Israel. Third was
Brandon Sherwood followed by Mike Greenawalt and Billy
Coleman. Dell led the entire race with the exception of
the short period when Israel took over the Lead.
In the
second 15 lap Kipo Chevrolet Street Stock main,
Borkenhagen held on by a couple of car lengths to win.
The real battle of the race was for second with Charles
Harvey gaining the runnerup spot when the checkered flag
flew. Third was Don Rappelyea while Scott McCeldowney
was fourth and Scott Krull was fifth.
In the Original Pizza Logs 15 lap DIRTcar Sportsman
feature, Ricky Newton was the winne r. Finishing second
was Tony Purgarich while Sandy Pembleton was third.
Rounding out the top five was Nathan Reynolds and Chris
Purgarich
In the Bobcat of Buffalo Firemans Enduro 12 lap
feature, Todd Brunning of Niagara Falls, Ontario won for
the first time in the two year history of the division.
It was also he first time that a Canadian Fire Company
was a winner at the Ransomville Speedway oval. Second
was Gordon Dietz (Wilson) while third was Jim Harbison
(Ransomville). Gerry Gipp of Lewiston and Stephen Baes
of Terrys Corners rounded out the top five. The race had
a red flag incident early in the main when Marc Morse of
the Terry's Corners Fire Company went up and over the
third turn wall. Morse walked away from the incident.
The fence took a number of minutes to repair but track
officials did a yeomans job in getting the race up and
moving again.
The 4/6 Cylinder Enduro was cut from 25 laps to
fifteen laps after a lengthy red flag incident slowed
the feature. The winner was Eugene Washburn of
Youngstown. Second was Ricky Washburn Jr of Ransomville
followed by Ed Martin, also of Ransomville.
This Friday, Destinos Pizzeria and Tim Hortons
presents the Harold Rinehart Memorial Poster Contest
with a full card of racing plus the Four Banger division
and rides for the first 200 kids through the Ransomville
ticket gate.
