BRETT HEARN
CAPTURES SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES WIN AT RANSOMVILLE; PANATTONI,
CONANT, AND ISRAEL ALSO COLLECT
Ransomville, NY – Friday, July 3rd, 2009 –
The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series rolled into
town last Friday night with a total of forty-two drivers
in tow. Despite the Northeast being hampered by wet
weather through the wet, the skies were blue as race
fans filled the grandstands to capacity.
Brett Hearn of Sussex, NJ topped the field aboard
the one hundred lap Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified
Series event. Hearn took the lead away from Stewart
Friesen on lap twenty-five and never looked back aboard
his Madsen Overhead Doors sponsored #20 machine.
Stewart Friesen, Billy Decker, Dale Planck, and Matt Sheppard
rounded out the top five.
Friesen led the field through lap twenty-five
before giving up the top spot to Hearn. The battle on
the race track was for the third position as Larry Wight
and Danny Johnson exchanged the position several times
while swapping paint in the process. Wight got the short
end of that stick after contact sent him into the
frontstretch concrete wall. Hearn continued to be the
class of the field as Johnson made his way to second.
Hearn led the field through the final circuits enroute
to the win.
John Panattoni of Niagara Falls, NY captured his
first ever win aboard the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman
division. Panattoni took the lead at the drop of the
green and held off persistent challenges from Don
Spatorico through the final ten laps of the twenty lap
main. Contact was made on a couple of occasions between
the pair but when the checkered flew it was Panattoni
taking a very popular checkered flags. Congrats to John
from everyone at the big R! Spatorico, Tony Purgarich,
Brad Rouse, and John Smith rounded out the top five.
Dave Conant of Lockport, NY took top honors aboard
the first fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock
feature and became the thirteenth different winner for
2009. Conant grabbed the lead at the drop of the green
and maintained it through the entire fifteen circuits.
Derrick Borkenhagen, Chris Burek, Scott Krull, and
Brandon Sherwood rounded out the top five.
Jaren Israel notched his third win of the season
aboard the second fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet
Streetstock main. By virtue of the heads up format –
Israel earned the front row starting position and was
never seriously challenged after that point. Israel
crossed the line ahead of Pat Dell, Ricky Washburn Jr.,
Don Rappleyea, and Kenny Washburn.
