BICKNELL, SPATORICO, ISRAEL, WASHBURN AND WAGNER COLLECT WINS AT RANSOMVILLE

 

Friday, June 12, 2009 – It was another beautiful night for racing at the big R last Friday as some one hundred and five racers signed in pitside. The event sponsored by Johnston’s Restaurant and the Talking Phone Book also featured a fund raiser by the local Unions to benefit the United Way.  Some four-hundred and two fans attended the Tent Party will proceeds benefitting the United Way.
     Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ont took top honors aboard the Mighty Taco Modifieds thirty lap main event. Bicknell used a move to the inside of Jon Miller on lap twenty-four to take over the top spot. Bicknell went on for the win followed by Robbie Krull, Stewart Friesen, Miller, and Randy Chrysler.
     Miller led the early going and quickly jumped out to a large advantage of the remainder of the field. Miller built up a full straight-away lead before a multi-car pile up just past half-way forced a red flag. Contact between Dave Just and Jeff McGinnis resulted in several cars being collected. Miller led the field back to green through lap twenty-four prior to giving up the top spot to Bicknell. Bicknell led the remaining six circuits to his first win of the season.

 

     Don Spatorico of Ransomville, NY captured his third win of the season aboard the twenty-five lap Original Pizza Laps Sportsman division. Spatoric o took the lead away from youngster Chris Purgarich on lap ten and never looked back aboard his #5 machine. Justin Wright, Mark Chiddy, Ryan Susice, and Jesse Cotriss rounded out the top five.

 

     Jaren Israel of Wilson, NY took top honors aboard the first fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main event. Israel took the lead away from Bob Urtel on lap two and quickly pulled away from the field. Jaren’s dad Roger Israel made his way to second on lap ten but was un-able to mount a challenge for the top spot. Son and father finished first and second followed by Chris Dowling, Don Rappleyea, and Ricky Washburn.

 

  

     Kenny Washburn of Ransomville, NY became the eleventh different winner in the Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock division after a win aboard the second fifteen lap main event. Washburn won in exciting style as a three wide battle between him, Billy Coleman, and Mike Greenawalt. Washburn held Coleman at bay for the win. Coleman, Mike Greenawalt, Scott Krull, and Webb Nashwinter rounded out the top five.

 

     Derek Wagner took top honors aboard the Flexcare 4 Bangers. Wagner took the lead away from Ryan Stephenson on lap six and quickly pulled away from the field. Stephenson, Daryl Haag, Mike Pahl, and Jamie Woods rounded out the top five.
