Ransomville, NY.........Friday, September 26th…John
Layfield of Wellsville, NY became the first Streetstock King
of the Hill 100 winner last Friday night at Ransomville
Speedway. Mayfield took the lead away from Dave Mannise on a
lap eleven restart and held him at bay the remaining
eighty-nine circuits to pick up his first win at Ransomville
Speedway.
David Mannise of Fulton, NY and Derek Boyle of Middleport, NY
shared the front row by virtue of a re-draw pitside. Mannise
took the early lead followed by Boyle, Roger Israel, Layfield,
and Rocco Conte. Layfield took over second on lap three
putting Boyle back to third, Israel fourth, and Conte fifth.
Layfield quickly pulled in on Mannise as Matt Gillingham lost
the left rear wheel housing on lap six. Mannise chose the
inside lane for the restart which proved to be the wrong
decision as Layfield took over the top spot. Mannise settled
into second followed by Israel, Boyle, and Dan Baughman. Mark
Loveland and Ryan Learn developed mechanical difficulties on
lap thirteen and headed pitside. Loveland was able to return
but unfortunately was a lap down.
On the restart it was Layfield setting the pace in the outside
lane. Layfield maintained the top spot followed by Mannise,
Boyle, Israel, and Baughman. Lucas Jonathon collected the turn
two guardrail on lap twenty-four but was able to continue on
as he ducked into the pit area. Jaren Israel lost power in
turn two but was also able to make it pitside keeping things
clean and green. The two pulled away from the remainder of the
field as they reached the thirty-lap mark. Andy Michaels
brought out the caution on lap thirty-four as he lost power in
turn one. Layfield maintained the top spot on the restart with
Mannise and Boyle solid in third and fourth. Nathan Peckam
lost a wheel in turn one and two bringing out another caution
on lap fourty-five. The caution stayed out through the
fifty-lap break.
Twelve cars remained on the lead lap when the field took the
green for the second fifty-lap segment. Layfield continued to
show the way over Mannise, Israel, Boyle, and Cory Sawyer.
Sawyer was able to continue his charge to the front as he took
over fourth from Boyle. John Schultz saw his great run go sour
as he headed pitside on lap fifty-five. Mannise continued to
pressure Layfield for the top spot as Sawyer challenged Israel
for third taking the position on lap fifty-eight. Sawyer had
been smoking basically the entire night but it became
progressively worse as the field reached the seventy-lap mark.
Just eight cars remained on the lead lap as Layfield and
Mannise continued to set a blistering pace. 2003 Ransomville
Speedway champion Alex Morris came to rest in turn four
bringing out the caution on lap seventy-one.
Layfield and Mannise continued their run up front on the
restart with third place runner Sawyer buried in lapped
traffic. Another caution flew on lap eighty-one as Mark
Loveland and Dave Jowdy spun in turn one. This was a huge
break for Sawyer as he was able to line up fourth with just
one lapped car in between himself and the leaders. Baughman
and Short rounded out the top five. The restart came on lap
eighty-seven leaving just fourteen laps remaining in the 1st
annual Streetstock King of the Hill 100. Another caution on
lap eighty-eight slowed the field. The top three ran nose to
tail, bumper to bumper as the race went back to green flag
racing. Layfield, Mannise, and Sawyer seemed pretty equal as
they ran single file as the final laps clicked away. At the
checkered it was Layfield in for the win followed by Mannise,
Sawyer, Baughman, and Israel.

Doug Williams of Central Square, NY won his first feature of
his career last Friday night. Williams took over the top spot
from Jeff Barker on lap seventeen and went on for the big win.
Williams is a regular at Brewerton Speedway and certainly
found the three-hour trip West worthwhile.
Jeff Barron took the lead at the drop of the green followed by
DJ Forbes, Barker, Don Fenner, and Doug Williams. Attrition
seemed to be a problem early on as three drivers headed
pitside on lap five. Forbes took advantage of lapped traffic
and closed the gap between himself and Barron. Lap six found
Forbes look to the highside for the top spot and took the
position as the field went into turn one. Forbes quickly
extended his lead as Shawn Slitter went up in smoke on the
front stretch and headed pitside. At halfway Forbes had a full
straightaway lead as Barron got loose coming off turn four
losing two positions. Barker took over the second position
followed by Williams, Barron, and Fenner. Forbes was
attempting to maneuver by lapped traffic in turn one when
contact was made sending him hard into the turn one guardrail.
Certainly a tough break for the Central NY driver who made the
three-hour trip West. Barker inherited the lead but only
temporarily as Williams took over the top spot and the win.
Barker, Barron, Fenner, and Rimmen rounded out the top five.

Dan Snyder grabbed the early and led the entire twenty-laps
aboard the Mini-Stock main event enroute to victory. Snyder
took the lead followed by Doug Chappius and Guy Steffen. The
top three pulled away from the remainder of the field as the
event ran under green flag conditions through lap six. Bob
Wagner was on the move as he advanced to second followed by
Dale Newton. At the checkered it was Snyder in for the win
followed by Wagner, Newton, Chappius, and Dave Bitner.

Ryan Gamble of Sanborn, NY collected his first victory at
Ransomville Speedway as he won the Micro-Sprint main event in
front of his hometown fans. Gamble used a lap two pass on
early leader Bill Fekete to take over the top spot and held it
through lap twenty.
Bill Fekete of Ransomville, NY took the early lead followed by
Gamble, Jason Blum, Jim Lafler, and John Peevey. Gamble wasted
no time as he took over the top spot on lap two putting Fekete
back to second. Gamble quickly pulled away from the field as
Blum made his way to second. Gamble was in heavy lapped
traffic by lap nine as Lafler challenged Fekete for third.
Gamble went on to collect the feature win followed by Blum,
Fekete, Dates, and Lafler.
